AMD: Desktop-Prozessoren

AMD zeigt sich wankelmütig bei der Wahl seiner Codenamen. Wurden bei den ersten Athlon-Generationen noch edle Pferde (Thoroughbred, Palomino) und klassische Autos (Thunderbird, Spitfire, Morgan) gewählt, wechselte man bei den 64-Bit-CPUs zu eher brachialen Gegenständen wie dem großen Holzhammer und dem kleinen Tischlerhammer.

Mit Informationen über künftige Prozessoren hält sich AMD oft bedeckt. Immerhin posaunt das Unternehmen die Codenamen seiner nächsten CPU-Generationen frei heraus. Allerdings verschwinden Codenamen auch schnell wieder, wenn es zeitliche Verzögerungen gibt. So sind auch die Spezifikationen und Launch-Termine wie so oft ein Sammelsurium aus "geheimen Roadmaps" und diversen Gerüchten...
